Die Bb-Tuba ist das tiefste Metallblasinstrument. Sie bildet das Fundament eines jeden Orchesters. In der Orchesterliteratur wird sie auch als Kontrabasstuba bezeichnet. Die bevorzugten Materialien für Korpus und Schallstück sind Messing und Goldmessing. Die Mundrohre der Bb-Tuba werden aus Messing, Goldmessing oder Neusilber gefertigt.
