FMB History

The company FMB was founded in 1992 by Hans-Jörg Ligensa.
Ligensa, who after completing a degree in music college at the
Nordwestdeutschen Musikakademie in Detmold for more than 15 years
Was a trumpeter in various philharmonic orchestras,
Operated a retail business before the establishment of FMB in Bielefeld
With full assortment.

Because for business reasons in a music house
Full range alone because of the available business area
Is subject to certain constraints, and for this reason hardly a larger one
Assortment of wind instruments, Ligensa decided
Reopening of a special business only for
Wind instruments and corresponding accessories.

The concept of blowing wind instruments through mail-order business had immediate success
And FMB was quickly one of the leading specialist stores for metal and woodwind instruments in Germany.

In the year 2000, Frank Schroeder, a trained metalblock instructor and drummer, first joined the company as a junior partner,
And then to take over the sole management in the summer of 2001.

In addition to the ever-growing mail-order business, more and more musicians from Germany and abroad have also lured us into our large exhibition, so that our company building on the Ackerstraße soon became too small. In January 2009, we finally opened our new rooms at Dammstr. 39 and are now home to one of the largest exhibitions of wind instruments in Europe.
